Album Notes

  • The recent remastered edition offered far superior sound quality compared to previous versions, and corrected a strange flaw in the instrumental break of "Turn Of The Century."
  • Surprisingly, "To Love Somebody" and "Holiday" were late additions to the album.
  • This LP marked the debut of Vince Melouney and Colin Petersen, who were both added to make the group into a full band.

Album Notes

  • The original LP was released in a red velvet cover.
  • When released on CD, the album was combined onto one disc, wherein "With All Nations" was removed. The track was readded to CD reissues.
  • Because of a conflict over whether "First Of May" or "Lamplight" should be the lead-off single, Robin (who favored "Lamplight") quit the group.

Robin's Reign [Robin] (1970)

ATCO (US), Polydor (UK), 1970

Side 1

  • August October

  • Mother And Jack

Side 2

  • Saved By The Bell

  • Lord Bless All
  • Most Of My Life
  • One Million Years

Album Notes

  • "One Million Years" was not originally part of the album, but was added to the German LP and as well as the CD release.
  • The released version of "Farmer Ferdinand Hudson" is a mere fragment of a much longer orchestral piece entitled "Hudson's Fallen Wind." Fortunately, a recording of the full-length piece managed to escape into the collector's circuit, unfortunately marred by several instances of a skipping needle.
  • Much to Barry's dismay, Maurice contributed bass and (allegedly) piano to this album.

  • Hallelujah I Love Her So
  • Terrible Way To Treat Your Baby

Album Notes

  • Includes tracks recorded while the Bee Gees were in Australia, but that were not released.
  • A single-LP was allegedly planned for release in 1966 (though no title was chosen), with several of the above tracks, plus two more, "If I Needed Someone" and "Another Tear Falls."
  • The set is very rare, though again, all songs appeared on BRILLIANT FROM BIRTH.
  • The first LP is titled "Inception", whereas the second is titled "Nostalgia."

Cucumber Castle

ATCO (US), Polydor (UK), 1970

Side 1

Album Notes

  • Despite being credited as a Bee Gees album, Robin does not appear.
  • This album served as the soundtrack to Barry and Maurice's television special of the same name.
  • Colin Petersen left the group (litigiously) midway through the recording sessions for this album.
  • It was originally planned to have this album on the market by Christmas 1969, in order to beat "Robin's Reign" to the shelves.

The Loner [Maurice] (1970)

Album Notes

  • Never released due to the failure of its lead-off single, "Railroad."
  • A well-known Japanese bootleg of the album exists in very poor quality. However, a digitally remastered version (renamed HOLD HER IN YOUR HAND) emerged recently, which also features remastered versions of many of the bonus tracks that were included on the Japanese disc.

The Kid's No Good [Barry] (1970)

Polydor, 1970 (unreleased)

Side 1

  • Mando Bay
  • One Bad Thing
  • The Day Your Eyes Meet Mine
  • Happiness
  • Peace In My Mind
  • Clyde O'Reilly

Side 2

  • I Just Wanna Take Care Of You
  • I'll Kiss Your Memory
  • The Victim
  • This Time
  • What's It All About
  • Born

Album Notes

  • No definite title is known, but this is the title constantly given to Barry's 1970 album.
  • This is most likely the intended lineup (though some sources swap "Mando Bay" and "Born"); however, bootleg versions add a number of extraneous bonus tracks. It seems obvious that "Born" was intended to be the final track, as it ends with a long, anthemic ending that would've made an appropriate finale to the LP.
  • Despite a bootleg claiming to be on the Polydor label, no official CD release has appeared as of yet.
  • "I'll Kiss Your Memory" and "This Time" were released on a single, which failed to chart.

Sing Slowly Sisters [Robin] (1970)

  • Make Believe
  • All's Well That Ends Well
  • A Very Special Day
  • Sky West And Crooked
  • Sing Slowly Sisters
  • C'est La Vie, Au Revoir

Album Notes

  • This is believed to have been the tracklist, though it's possible that a final lineup was never agreed upon
  • Bootleg versions add a number of extra tracks, some of which are actually ROBIN'S REIGN outtakes.

2 Years On (1970)

ATCO (US), Polydor (UK), 1970

Side 1

  • 2 Years On
  • Portrait Of Louise
  • Man For All Seasons
  • Sincere Relation
  • Back Home
  • The First Mistake I Made

Side 2

  • Lonely Days
  • Alone Again
  • Tell Me Why
  • Lay It On Me
  • Every Second, Every Minute
  • I'm Weeping

Album Notes

  • With this album, Robin returned, and remained a member until the group's disbandment in 2003, due to Maurice's death.
  • Barry's participation in this album was somewhat limited, as he was still planning to release "The Kid's No Good." Robin was also continuing work on his solo album during the time that this album was being recorded.
  • Publicity material featured an alternate running order: (Side A) 2 Years On / Lonely Days / Lay It On Me / Portrait Of Louise / Man For All Seasons / The First Mistake I Made; (Side B) I'm Weeping / Every Second, Every Minute / Sincere Relation / Back Home / Alone Again / Tell Me Why.

Side 2

  • Don't Wanna Live Inside Myself
  • When Do I
  • Dearest
  • Lion In Winter
  • Walking Back To Waterloo

Album Notes

  • This LP marked the debut of a new member, Geoff Bridgeford.
  • Maurice is the only brother to appear on the title track.
  • At one point, this album was going to be a double LP set, featuring 20 songs. However, the contents of this unreleased version have never been revealed.
  • A rough mix sent to Atlantic featured the following track list: (Side A) How Can You Mend A Broken Heart / Israel / The Greatest Man In The World / It's Just The Way / Don't Wanna Live Inside Myself / Country Woman / Somebody Stop The Music; (Side B) Trafalgar / We Lost The Road / Dearest / When Do I / Lion In Winter / Remembering / Walking Back To Waterloo. Note the inclusion of 'Country Woman' and 'We Lost The Road', neither of which appeared on the final album.
  • The cover art features another alternate lineup: (Side A) How Can You Mend A Broken Heart / Trafalgar / The Greatest Man In The World / Remembering / When Do I / Dearest; (Side B) It's Just The Way / Walking Back To Waterloo / Somebody Stop The Music / Israel / Lion In Winter / Don't Wanna Live Inside Myself.

  • Where Is Your Sister?
  • It Doesn't Matter Much To Me

Album Notes

  • Rejected by Polydor due to the failure of LIFE IN A TIN CAN. This rejection would inspire the brothers to change their musical style.
  • All bootlegs shuffle the tracklist, and some add four additional tracks - "Jesus In Heaven", "Life, Am I Wasting My Time", "King and Country", and "Dear Mr. Kissinger."
  • A high-quality CD version claiming to be a Polydor release has existed for several years, though this is in fact a bootleg.
  • Thanks to Rhino's Bee Gees reissue series, this album will most likely see an official release sometime before 2010.

  • For Whom The Bell Tolls
  • Fallen Angel
  • Dacadance (only some CDs)
  • Decadance (Hidden Mix) (only some CDs)

Album Notes

  • Several mixes of "Paying The Price Of Love" were released along with the single version.
  • Decadance is a newly recorded version of The Bee Gees 1976 hit, "You Should Be Dancing".

Still Waters

Polydor, 1997

  • Alone
  • I Surrender
  • I Could Not Love You More
  • Still Waters Run Deep
  • My Lover's Prayer

  • Irresistible Force
  • Closer Than Close
  • I Will
  • Obsessions
  • Miracles Happen
  • Smoke And Mirrors
  • Rings Around The Moon (Japanese Edition only)
  • Love Never Dies (Japanese Edition only)

Album Notes

  • The album debuted at #11 in the US following heavy media promotion along with the Bee Gees induction into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. Many outlets did not order enough copies, which may have prevented the album from debuting even higher.
  • The single "Alone" was the Bee Gees last Top 40 hit in the US. The follow-up, "Still Waters (Run Deep), charted at #57.

    • Guilty
  • Immortality
  • Tragedy
  • I Started A Joke
  • Grease
  • Jive Talkin'
  • How Deep Is Your Love
  • Stayin' Alive
  • You Should Be Dancing

Album Notes

  • A (heavily edited) recording of the Bee Gees' 1997 performance at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas. (A complete recording was released on VHS and DVD.)
  • Interestingly, in a quip edited from the CD version, Barry notes that the group is about to perform "Guilty", because if they performed "Woman In Love", it would just seem strange. An ironic comment, if one remembers that the very first version of "Woman In Love" was in fact performed by Barry!
  • 'Don't Throw It All Away' features prerecorded vocals by Andy Gibb. (This is much more effective in the video editions, as this section features a back-projected video of Andy singing along to the Bee Gees' live accompaniment.)
  • 'Immortality' features a live guest appearance on vocals by Celine Dion.
  • 'Grease' features prerecorded vocals by Frankie Valli. Strangely, one entire section of the song ('this is a life of illusion...') was not performed.
  • A 2-Disc Special Edition was later issued which included the six additional songs featured on the DVD and VHS versions, but not originally issued on the CD.

This Is Where I Came In

Polydor, 2001

  • This Is Where I Came In
  • She Keeps On Coming
  • Sacred Trust
  • Wedding Day
  • Man In The Middle
  • Deja Vu
  • Technicolor Dreams
  • Walking On Air
  • Loose Talk Costs Lives
  • Embrace
  • The Extra Mile
  • Voice In The Wilderness
  • Just In Case (Special Edition only)
  • Promise The Earth (Special Edition only)

Album Notes

  • The title and cover proved prophetic, as Maurice's death in 2003 ensured that this would be the final Bee Gees album.
  • No singles were released in the US. The title track reached #18 in the UK.

Magnet [Robin]

SPV, 2003

  • Please
  • Wait Forever
  • Wish You Were Here
  • No Doubt
  • Special
  • Inseparable
  • Don't Rush
  • Watching You
  • Earth Angel
  • Another Lonely Night In New York
  • Love Hurts

Album Notes

  • "Wish You Were Here" and "Another Lonely Night In New York" are newly-recorded remakes.
  • At one time Robin considered repackaging the album as "Magnet, Version 2.0"
  • A 3-disc "Tour Edition" was released in 2005 on Evolution, which contained the "Magnet" CD on disc 1, the audio soundtrack of "Robin Gibb With The Neue Philharmonic Frankfurt Orchestra - Live" concert on disc 2, and the video for "Please" and an interview on the DVD disc 3. Note that disc 2 had the audio soundtrack of the concert taken directly from the DVD, rather than from the (edited) CD version that has also been released.

Guilty Pleasures [Barry]

private, 2005 (unreleased) / Barry Gibb Radio, 2006

  • Come Tomorrow
  • Stranger In A Strange Land
  • Hideaway
  • It's Up To You
  • Night Of My Life
  • Above The Law
  • Without Your Love
  • All Our Children
  • Golden Dawn

Album Notes

  • Recorded as a guideline for Barbra Streisand.
  • As of yet, the full-length demos have not been released. All nine songs appeared on the online Barry Gibb Radio as two or three minute fragments, with a fade at each end.
  • Two songs are missing from the above tracklist - 'Don't Throw It All Away' and 'Letting Go.' As both songs were previously released, no new demos were necessary.

Live [Robin]

Eagle, 2005

  • Night Fever
  • I've Gotta Get A Message To You
  • How Deep Is Your Love
  • Nights On Broadway
  • Love Hurts
  • Massachusetts
  • My Lover's Prayer
  • New York Mining Disaster 1941
  • Please
  • Saved By The Bell
  • To Love Somebody
  • Words
  • You Win Again
  • Juliet
  • Tragedy
  • Jive Talkin'
  • Stayin' Alive

Album Notes

  • Widely believed to be the single worst album to be released by a Bee Gee, due to a disastrous mix that nearly renders Robin's vocals inaudible.

My Favorite Christmas Carols [Robin]

Edel, 2006

  • Mother Of Love
  • In The Bleak Midwinter
  • O Come All Ye Faithful
  • Silent Night
  • God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
  • Good King Wenceslas
  • Away In A Manger
  • Once In Royal David's City
  • I Saw Three Ships
  • Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
  • The First Noel
  • Come Some Christmas Eve Or Halloween
  • Ellan Vannin
  • Christmas Medley

Album Notes

  • Only the original German release had fourteen tracks; later releases are mysteriously missing Mother Of Love, Come Some Christmas Eve Or Halloween, Ellan Vannin, and the closing medley.
  • The First Noel has been partially rewritten as an anti-war protest ballad.
  • Come Some Christmas Eve Or Halloween is actually the original Bee Gees recording from 1968, which also appeared in the "Studio Albums 1967-68" boxed set.
  • The title of the US release was shortened to My Favorite Carols, and credited to 'Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees.'
  • All editions feature a bonus video, which includes an interview with Robin and footage from the album's recording sessions.

Scrapped ideas

Modulating Maurice [Maurice and Ringo Starr]

unknown label, 1969

Included

  • Modulating Maurice

Album Notes

  • In early 1969, Maurice contributed spoken-word 'vocals' (in fact, just random phrases) to a bizarre synthesizer album that was being recorded by his neighbor, Ringo Starr. Nothing ever became of it, and it is rumored that the recordings no longer exist.
  • Despite popular belief, the track "Modulating Maurice" has not been bootlegged. (Bootleggers attempted to be clever by giving this title to an unreleased Bee Gees song from 1970, actually entitled "To Dance Again.")

Untitled Bee Gees album (1977)

RSO, 1977

Included

  • If I Can't Have You
  • Night Fever
  • Warm Ride
  • More Than A Woman
  • (Our Love) Don't Throw It All Away
  • How Deep Is Your Love
  • Stayin' Alive

Album Notes

  • The Bee Gees were at work on this album when Robert Stigwood approached them about contributing songs for "Saturday Night Fever." Thus, four of these recordings were used on the soundtrack of that film, and "If I Can't Have You" was re-recorded for the film by Yvonne Elliman. Andy would record "Don't Throw It All Away" for his SHADOW DANCING album, and "Warm Ride" for AFTER DARK. Incidentally, all tracks from this album (including "Warm Ride") are available on a new Rhino reissue of the "Greatest" compilation.
