World is a song written by Barry, Robin & Maurice Gibb and recorded and released by the Bee Gees as a single in 1967. It became the second of three number one hits in a row in Germany, coming between Massachusetts and Words.
The song also appeared on their album Horizontal the following year.
The song was recorded during October 1967. "It was originally planned to feature no orchestra, so was recorded on four tracks , including some keyboards played by Robin. When it was decided to add an orchestra, the four tracks containing the band were mixed to one track and the orchestra was added to another track. The stereo mix suffered since the second tape had to play as mono until the end when the orchestra comes in on one side.
B-side
The songs b-side was a non-album track, Sir Geoffrey Saved the World. This can be found on the deluxe edition of Horizontal and also the box set Tales From the Brothers Gibb.
